Our services aren’t limited to transport.  We also provide freight consolidation, storage, on-shipment, warehousing and repacking.  Our broad logistics capability means that in addition to rail, we are able to offer value-added services such as freight consolidation, storage, warehousing, dangerous goods, repacking bulk to smaller loads, materials handling and refrigeration services.

QR’s Retail Freight business is a door-to-door freight service offering comprehensive, logistics and supply chain management solutions.

Our Retail Freight business can help with shipping and port operations, container movements, warehousing, pick and pack, distribution and door-to-door deliveries to almost anywhere in Australia.

QR’s Freight businesses have invested heavily in container and truck fleets.  At this time QR operates a container fleet of 1,950 containers that is projected to grow as the national expansion gains momentum.  In addition, we operate a large truck fleet that is complimented by road vehicle assets sourced from an Australia-wide subcontractor pool.

Rail will become a competitive option on medium haul corridors on major rail lines, as companies start to reduce their emissions either before a national scheme commences or after its implementation. For each train with two drivers, 150 trucks will be removed from the roads (Source: Australasian Railway Association).

QR’s freight portfolio owns a number of subsidiary companies that deliver specialised services.

Our Bulk Freight services are delivered by ARG (Australian Railroad Group). ARG is a wholly-owned subsidiary of QR and the national market leader in bulk freight. ARG manages QR’s bulk freight business and is focused on the mining and agricultural market sectors across Australia.

Our Intermodal business incorporates linehaul service provider Interail which manages the businesses interstate rail freight.

The CRT Group is a wholly-owned subsidiary that operates as part of our Retail Freight business. The CRT Group specialises in transport and logistics solutions for national polymer, food and industrial customers.
